Our love for the outdoors hasn't wavered since our journey began. The Regatta Foundation supports a wide variety of environmental and conservation projects ensuring everyone can enjoy the great outdoors for generations to come.
We have been working with Galapagos Conservation Trust (GCT) for 5 years and during this time, we have supported several conservation projects on land and in the sea. Key areas have been: plastic pollution, because 8 tonnes of plastic is being removed from Galapagos beaches every year and the monitoring and protection of whale sharks because these great creatures provide GCT with new and vital evidence, identifying areas of ocean that may need protection.
As a platinum supporter of The Queen's Green Canopy in 2022, we were part of a unique tree-planting initiative, to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.
Through this initiative, we helped some young unemployed people take on a bespoke green skills training programme, to equip them to find jobs in the green sector. We celebrated National Tree Week through the QGC launch of Champion Cities where Manchester became one of the first Champion Cities to mark its ambitious plans to plant 3 million trees and be carbon neutral by 2038.
We also held staff volunteering tree-planting sessions through City of Trees. Our COO at the time, David Holt, helped plant the first Jubilee tree in Greater Manchester, with Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham.
We work with a collection of environment foundations based in 20 locations across the world dedicated to preserving, protecting, and regenerating biodiverse ecosystems and to slow down and adapt to climate change. By providing financial resources to these grassroots initiatives, we aim to provide invaluable exposure to new audiences, help people to connect with nature with practical kit, and collectively work towards a more sustainable future.
