What Is GORE-TEX?

Whether you’re in the market for a new waterproof jacket, walking boots or rucksack, it’s recommended to do your due diligence so you can make an educated decision on which product suits your specific needs. Despite there numerous technologies, the one that leads the industry and will consistently appear in your research is GORE-TEX.

GORE-TEX is so renown in the industry because it is able to combine both waterproof and breathability elements into its fabrics. This means that with GORE-TEX apparel, the technology will keep water out, but allow moisture to escape. Travellers world-wide have been putting GORE-TEX Products through its paces for years. And it still comes out on top as the finest waterproof and breathable fabric there is.

How Does GORE-TEX Work?

GORE-TEX is formed from expanded polytetrafluorethylene (E-PTFE) a material that can withstand adverse weather conditions and but allow low water absorption. This material is what makes up the GORE-TEX membrane, which is the centre of GORE-TEX’s waterproof capabilities. GORE-TEX products also include sealed seems via long strips of sealant tape, ensuring that their garments are totally waterproof.
